What is Facebook advertising cost in Nigeria, has got to be one of the most popular questions I have had to answer when prospects want our Company (360 Hub Digital) to handle their promotion. The simple answer is Facebook advertising cost in Nigeria is cheap compared to some other countries if we want to compare.

This same trend holds true with Google search ads, Google display ads, Instagram ads, and Twitter ads. While the average cost per click in Nigeria is around $0.10 depending on the campaign, that of the United States for example can be as high as $0.97 and more. Also, your Facebook advertising cost in Nigeria can be as low as $0.02 per click depending on how well your ad performs.

Facebook which is the leading social media platform with over 3.065 billion monthly active users enables individuals and businesses to connect with new and existing customers through Facebook advertising.

With over 30 million active users in Nigeria, businesses in Nigeria have been able to leverage Facebook ads to reach new customers and communicate with old ones as well.

As an experienced digital marketing agency in Nigeria, we would talk about Facebook ad cost in Nigeria and other countries below and the factors that affect ad cost. This will enable you to set the right budget for your ad when you have learned how to advertise on Facebook.

Cost of Advertising on Facebook in Nigeria

Facebook advertising cost in Nigeria depends mainly on your business goals and objectives. Meaning, it is largely up to you how much you want to spend on Facebook promotion. Be that as it may, your Facebook ads campaign goal can also impact your overall Facebook ads cost.

As of October 15th 2024, the cost of advertising on Facebook in Nigeria Naira can cost anywhere from 30 to 70 Naira (₦‎30 – 70) or more for link clicks (CPC). While cost per messaging ads can range from 200 to 1,000 Naira plus (₦ 200 – ‎1,000+) for messaging conversion ads. The average CPM (cost per 1,000 impressions) can be from 450 Naira to 2,000 Naira or more (₦‎2,000) depending on your ads performance and industry. See current Facebook ads cost from some of the campaigns we run in Naira.

Similarly, Facebook sponsored ads cost in dollars can range anywhere from 2 cents ($0.2) to 30 cents ($0.30) and more per link clicks for ads optimized for website landing page views. For website conversion ads, the cost can range anywhere from 1 dollar ( $1 ) or less to 2 dollars plus ($2+) per conversion.

The average CPM (cost per 1,000 impressions) in dollars can be from 30 cents ($0.30) or less to 1 dollar ($1) or more depending on your ads performance and industry. See current Facebook ads cost from some of the campaigns we run in USD.

But, the minimum Facebook ads cost in Nigeria is currently ₦1,610.01 and $1 per day for Naira and USD respectively as of October 15th 2024. Facebook often want your ad to run for a minimum of 7 days which would mean that with ₦12,500 you could run Facebook ads for 7 day period, enabling you to reach new customers. You can also spend less if you want to run the ads for 3 days or even two days.

But, a good Facebook advertising cost in Nigeria can range from N50,000 to N550,000+. The truth is you cannot grow your business fast with a budget of N50,000 or N75,211 a month for Facebook or Instagram ads. However, you can start from there.

What Determines Facebook Advertising Cost in Nigeria and Elsewhere

One of the prime determining factors for Facebook ads cost is your business or promotion objective. And this can get complicated easily. For instance, if you are trying to get app installs as an advertiser, you would pay far more than those who are optimizing for clicks.

Facebook has a variety of objectives for marketing your business. And this can also depend on your business stage. Your promotional goal could be to create awareness about your old or new business on Facebook, reconnect with old customers, drive sales, etc. Below are some factors that affect the cost of advertising on Facebook in Nigeria that you should take seriously.

1. Product Cost

The pricing of your product or services can directly affect your ad cost in terms of budgeting and cost per click (CPC). Knowing how much your product and service costs would help you determine the right budget to use.

For example, the cost of advertisings regular handbags or mobile phones cannot be the same for cars in terms of budgeting and CPC for obvious reasons. As the saying goes, “When hunters are hunting for lions, they don’t set a trap using rabbit as bait” Obviously, you cannot use the same amount of money to run Facebook ads to sell mobile phones and cars.

2. Facebook Ads Duration

Those concerned about the cost of advertising on Facebook in Nigeria, often ask if they can run their ads for 1 or two days. To have a good result from your Facebook advertising effort, you need to run your ads for up to 7 days plus.

Therefore, your determined number of days you want your ads to run would affect your advertising cost for the period. The more days your ad run for, the more money you would spend.

3.Ad Quality and Relevance

Facebook advertising cost is also affected by ad quality and relevance. Ad Quality and relevance are determined by how interested Facebook machines thinks a person will be in your ad. Your ad will be scored between 1 to 10 based on how relevant it is to its target audience. If your ad is very relevant, you would pay less and vice versa.

Relevance and quality are based on how many people took action on your ad. Actions in the form of clicking on the ad, liking it, sharing or commenting are key in this regard.

4. Targeted Audience

Who you are targeting also affects the cost, as well as how many competing advertisers are going after that same audience. When lots of advertisers are targeting the same audience at a time, the cost goes up (Demand and Supply 101).

The country you are targeting also affects your advertising cost. As has been established earlier, advertising to US audiences, the UK, Canada and Scandinavian countries are more expensive than ads in Africa and other developing countries.

5. Facebook Ads Placement

The placement of your ads can affect the cost of advertising on Facebook. Placement is basically where your ads appear on Facebook/Instagram, and this influences the cost.

When setting up your ads, there are different placement options like the news feed, mobile-only, right-hand column, Instagram, stories, reel, etc

Each of these places your ads may display comes with different costs just like Google ads.

6. Ads Call to Action

The action you expect your targeted audience to take can also largely determine your Facebook advertising cost. Ads optimized for app install and conversion ads generally cost more than those optimized for clicks and impressions.

7. Leveraging Omni Channel Advertising

According to renowned marketing expert Neil Patel, advertising across multiple channels plus tv ads at the same time help reduce Facebook ad cost. This is based on study and practice by major brands that have leveraged the strategy.

Other factors that determine Facebook advertising cost in Nigeria and other countries are ad budget, bid, season and industry.

Facebook Advertising Cost by Industry

As has been noted before in this article, Facebook and Instagram ads cost can be affected by the industry you are in or targeting. See the cost by industry in the image below: Photo credit. Webfx.

Facebook Advertising Cost by Country: CPC and CPM

We have established already in this post that the average Facebook advertising cost in Nigeria ranges from $0.10 per click. Additionally, we also stated that the ad cost could also become as low as $0.02 in Nigeria or as high as $0.75 per click and that various other factors affect cost.

Different advertising cost per click and other actions on Facebook

From the screenshot above, you can see that while the CPC for some campaigns is $0.03 another is $0.26. Again, optimizing for the same conversion can also give you different costs depending on the performance of the ads.

    Hi Admin,
I want to advertise a data analysis training.
Which of the social media platforms can optimize my getting a target audience?
My audience should be professionals, at least they should be interns in non-governmental organizations, development organizations (WHO, UN, etc.), and data analysis enthusiasts.

      Hello Ayobami,

If you have a good budget for the campaign, I recommend spreading your net across Facebook, Instagram, LinkedIn and X. However, if you have a small budget, stay with just Facebook and Instagram. LinkedIn professionals targeting may be better, but the cost per click (CPC) is extremely high for Nigerians. You a need up to $2,000 to run a “good” campaign on LinkedIn and that may just get about 300 people to visit your landing as LinkedIn CPC is currently around $2 minimum.

But with $500 and the right targeting on Facebook and Instagram plus X, you can drive thousands of visitors and achieve more.

      Hello Josh

Sorry to hear that your ad is not doing so well, first time are almost always like that. Paying with Naira, does not affect clicks.

Here are a few pointers that may help.

Ensure you are targeting the right users.

Make sure your video or creative is great, and with the right USP or value proposition

Take a second look at your type of campaign and what you are optimizing for. If your want traffic to your landing page for instance, you may choose traffic campaign and optimize for landing page view.

Make sure your CTA is in synch with your campaign goal.

      Hope this helps

To get good result from your real estate Facebook campaign for UK audience, we think your budget should start from around £10 daily. If you are a startup, you may want to run campaign consistently to get better results and also gather conversion data in your ad account
